Florida: man punches puppy for eating his ravioli, chokes girlfriend for trying to stop him

A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with strangling his girlfriend just after midnight on Feb. 15.

Juan Deangleo Casteal allegedly punched his girlfriend's puppy because it was trying to eat his ravioli.

The girlfriend told Okaloosa County deputies that she grabbed the front of Casteal's shirt to try to pull him away from the puppy and stop him from hurting it, according to an arrest report from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Casteal then allegedly grabbed his girlfriend around the neck with both hands and squeezed until she was unable to breath.

The two wrestled on the floor, knocking over the bowl of ravioli, until the girlfriend was able to get away, according to the report.

Casteal told deputies nothing happened except that maybe ravioli was thrown across the room, according to the report.

Casteal is charged with a third-degree felony for domestic battery by strangulation.
